Josh and Kali Cooke, MT-BC Roots At the corner of Burnt Church Rd. and Bruin St. lies the story of a boy with an entrepreneurial spirit, Josh Cooke. You may remember his first entrepreneurial endeavor, selling Watermelons, Tomatoes, and Peaches when he was in high school in the late '90's, or you may have known him from when he was the interim youth minister at First Baptist Church of Bluffton in 2003. Well, he went off school and while he was in school he discovered one of his passions in life. Coffee! Now despite difficult economic conditions he wants to inspire people to know that businesses can still thrive if they keep it local. He has just opened The Corner Perk, a coffee shop that sits right behind where his produce stand used to be. But don't worry we will still have fresh watermelon and peaches in the summertime from Cahill's Market. Shop The Corner Perk is a great place to visit in Bluffton, whether you are on your way to work or school, want do some work out of the office, or just want a cool place to come and hang out at night. We are open from 6:30 a.m. - 9:00 pm. Offerings At The Corner Perk you can expect to get the best organic coffees, teas, and mochas, but being from Bluffton not everyone understands why a tall cup of coffee is the smallest size other coffee shops offer. That is why we are introducing Bluffton's sizes: lil', big, and biggest. Aside from coffee and espresso drinks we also offer the Frappy, which we think is a lot more fun to say than Frappuccino, our Frappy's are made with gourmet Ghirardelli chocolates and caramel. As well as beverages we also serve excellent homemade tasting pastries including: various muffins, cookies, biscotti, breads, cheesecakes, and more. Family If you have been around Bluffton for a long time you may have known my mother, Debbie Cooke, a saintly woman who's love and faith were as big and strong as anyone else I know. She also had a desire to be a photographer, but never had the time. Well, while she was sick with Leukemia she began to take photographs of Bluffton. She passed away in August of 2007 and in her honor we are displaying and selling these photographs and donating $5 per frame to the Leukemia and Lymphoma foundation. Kali Josh married a girl from Pennsylvania, who had never tried grits, oysters, or bal'd peanuts until she moved down here, but now she loves them. Kali Cooke MT-BC is a professional Music Therapist who began her practice, Palmetto Music Therapy, in August of last year, and she has moved in to a space right next The Corner Perk. Kali offers a variety of therapy groups at her facility. She is also available to travel to your place of service. Currently she does weekly and biweekly therapy groups with special needs kids and and adults, as well as nursing home therapy groups. Josh and Kali have been married for 5 years this July and just love being able to work right next to each other.
